At 16:53 local time on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 the small Caribbean island of Haiti was rocked with a shattering earthquake that killed hundreds of thousands of people and left millions injured and homeless.  Éminence wanted to help rebuild in any way we could so we put forth a challenge to our staff, clients and customers to donate whatever they could to the devastated Haitian people.  We were recently thanked by the Canadian Red Cross for our fundraising efforts to date but our work does not end here; please continue to donate to this cause as there is still so much that needs to be done in order to rebuild a nation.  We encourage you to visit the Canadian Red Cross at www.redcross.ca/haiti2010

Attila and Boldijarre Koronczay were honoured to be awarded with the 2010 Entrepreneur of the Year award for Éminence Organic Skin Care in front of friends, family and 300 guests on May 12, 2010 in Vancouver, BC, an award that recognizes criteria such as excellent service, growth, and green factor.  Since immigrating to Canada in 1998, the Koronczay brothers have taken a small family business and expanded it into more than 2500 spas and ultimately millions of homes coast to coast, while still maintaining ties to their home in Hungary. In the spirit of community sharing and support, The Cinderella Project celebrates the achievements of high school students in the Lower Mainland of Vancouver, British Columbia who have overcome adversity in reaching the milestone of graduation and this weekend Éminence was happy to help celebrate!  The latest statistics indicate that more than one in five, or twenty percent of all children in Canada live below the poverty line. Many of these children come from families with little or no formal education.  Without a high school education, employment opportunities are limited and this causes the cycle of poverty to continue.  The Cinderella Project was started to help encourage youth to stay in school and achieve the milestone of high school graduation, giving young people the opportunity to break the cycle of poverty for themselves and their families by offering “Boutique Day”, where volunteers donate formal attire, accessories and beauty products so they can attend their graduation festivities with pride.

In 2007, Director Gary Logan worked with his brother, Richard Logan, and his wife, Jann Henry (owners of San Antonio Massage and Spa and originators of the therapy which has proved to be so successful in aiding the recovery of burned servicemen) by writing, directing, and producing an extremely moving documentary film showcasing the efforts, progress, and need for support this treatment has resulted in. Spa Magazine presented the 2nd annual Silver Sage Reader's Choice Awards for 2009 and amongst these fabulous spa winners were many who carried Eminence! Eminence founders Boldijarre and Attila Koronczay attended the lavish event to congratulate and support everyone involved. We would like to applaud all of the winners of Spa Magazine's Reader's Choice Awards and are extremely proud to be carried by such prestigious spas that were voted by the masses to be the best of the best!

One of the top industry magazines, Sisters BeautyPro, presented the Professional Whitening Product Award to Eminence Organic Yam & Pumpkin Enzyme Peel 5%. The annual BeautyPro Awards consist of 9 members in the Advisory Board and praise outstanding professional skin care products, cosmetic products, nail art, equipment and training academy within the industry. Strict qualifications include everything from compliance of the Hong Kong Import and Export Ordinance to the compliance of Hong Kong and International Health and Safety standards.

It was a nice holiday treat this year for Eminence when we were mentioned repeatedly in the December issue of Day Spa magazine, beginning with our Blueberry Soy Exfoliating Cleanser as a Super Sud in a solid article on cleansers entitled ‘It’s a Wash’.  We also found our new Tea Tree & Mint Cleanser listed as an essential this month, as an important part to clean hands and staying germ-free during cold and flu season.
